Portions of the Aliso Creek Bikeway will be closed for approximately 18 months beginning April 21, 2021 due to the San Diego Freeway (I-5) Widening Project.
The closure will affect both the Aliso Creek Riding and Hiking Trail and the Aliso Creek Bikeway at the I-5 from Paseo de Valencia in Laguna Hills to Los Alisos Boulevard in Lake Forest. Signage will direct detour traffic along Los Alisos Boulevard.
The trail runs through project segment three, or the Palm Section, between Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road.
Under the direction of OCTA and Caltrans District 12, the San Diego Freeway (I-5) Widening Project from San Joaquin Hills Toll Road (SR-73) to El Toro Road is intended to increase capacity, improve operations and enhance safety in southern Orange County.
Throughout the development process, OCTA and Caltrans District 12 have and will continue to work together with motorists, stakeholders and cities, including the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano, as well as the County of Orange.
