Join us for an 6-mile leisurely hike to The Sinks, a truly surprising Orange County geological feature. We are adding extra time to this hike so that we can go at a more comfortable pace, taking our time to experience the riparian ecosystem at the bottom of the Agua Chinon canyon, part of OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space. The final approach involves a steep climb out of the canyon to a ridgetop platform with an amazing view of the eroding cliff on the west side of the Sinks. We will take this final climb at a slow and easy pace.
Total round-trip distance is 6 miles with an elevation gain of 1,000 feet at an average moving rate of 2.0-2.5 miles per hour. Though tailored for hikers that like more time, participants should still be in good hiking condition and have previously completed a similar distance hike. Please come prepared with a backpack, plenty of water (at least 1 liter), snacks, sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes
Please note that the route for this hike may be shortened or altered due to trail conditions or adverse weather.
Please come prepared with a sturdy day pack, water, snacks, closed-toe hiking shoes or boots, sunscreen, first aid, and all other supplies to keep you safe and healthy on the trail on this half-day hike in the wilderness area.
