OC Parks Ranger Reserves
The County of Orange Board of Supervisors established the Ranger Reserve program on May 5, 1987 to provide support for field staff during holidays, weekends, events and public programs. Under supervision and in a volunteer capacity, Ranger Reserves perform professional, recreational and technical duties in OC Parks facilities and at park-sponsored events. Duties may be associated with park operations, resource management, administration, interpretation and/or visitor services.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- Must be in good standing in the community, provide proof of U.S. residency and pass a background investigation.
- Ability to perform outstanding customer service
- Desire and ability to learn concepts of natural and cultural history
- Provide public service in a variety of situations
- Write clear and concise reports, memos and correspondences
- Volunteer a minimum of 18 hours of service per month, including weekends and holidays
- Possess a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher, before the date of appointment
- Must be an OC Parks General Volunteer for a minimum of six months before joining the Park Ranger Reserves
