Qualifications

You must be 21 years old and a high school graduate. You also must be in good standing in the community, provide proof of U.S. residency and pass a background investigation. Other qualifications include:

  • Work with the public in a variety of situations;
  • Learn and apply resource management techniques;
  • Write clear and concise reports, memos and correspondences;
  • Volunteer a minimum of 18 hours of service per month;
  • Pass the requirements of the Park Ranger Academy;
  • Possess a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher, before the date of appointment.

Education/Experience

Any combination of education or experience that demonstrates possession of the above abilities and qualifications.

License/Certification

The department will provide training for the required Basic Life Support Certificate and PC 832 training.
