Welcome to OCParks.com
The State "2002 Resources Bond Act" that includes the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Coastal Protection Act of 2002 and Safe Neighborhood Parks was approved by 56.8% of voters statewide in March 2002. This was the second major statewide Bond Act approved by voters since 1988 which makes grant funds available for park purposes.
The Bond Act states that in order “to maintain a high quality of life for California's growing population requires a continuing investment in parks, recreation facilities, and in the protection of the state's natural and historical resources. Each generation has an obligation to be good stewards of these resources in order to pass them on to their children.”
Proposition 40 In Action- $14 million is prioritized to assist Harbors, Beaches and Parks in late 2003.
- Critical capital and maintenance projects planned to ensure public health and safety while enjoying the County’s more than 35,000-acre park system.
- The funding extends the useful life of recreational amenities for decades to come.
- While these projects will not fulfill the entire maintenance backlog within the regional park system, substantial progress will be made in preserving the public’s assets.
