Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park
Resource Management Plan
Updated May 19, 2009
Orange County Parks has completed preparation of the Draft Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park (AWCWP) Resource Management Plan (RMP). The main purpose of the RMP is to:
•Establish general goals and specific long-range resource management policies necessary to protect, enhance, and perpetuate the resource values within the park;
•Identify existing resources and their sensitivities, and establish methodologies for managing the natural and cultural resources within a recreation-oriented setting;
•Create a consensus-based RMP that establishes a balance between park resource values and stakeholder interests;
•Identify priorities and provide guidance for implementing goals and long-range policies.
AWCWP is considered one of Orange County’s most popular and treasured natural open spaces. The rich and diverse natural environment and trails within the Aliso and Wood Canyons make this unique park an asset for Orange County. With its lush, oak woodlands and broad areas of grassland and coastal sage scrub, this facility provides spectacular views and opportunities for a variety of visitor experiences. The park is popular with many outdoor enthusiasts including hikers, cyclists, runners, equestrians, bird watchers, photographers, painters and naturalists.
OC Parks extends its appreciation to everyone who participated in the public workshops and meetings or provided input throughout the planning process for the RMP.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
